After being grilled by the Senate and House, amidst one of the worst banking scandals in recent history, CEO and Chairman of the Board John Stumpf is stepping down from his roles as Chairman and CEO of Wells Fargo effective immediately.  Mr. Stumpf will be replaced by current President and Chief Operating Officer Timothy J. Sloan.  Stephen Sanger, Wells Fargo’s independent chairman will take over as Chairman of the Board.
